I learned this from The Go-Giver by Bob Burg and John David Mann, along with the 5 Laws of Stratospheric Success, which helped me get to where I am today.
There are 5 laws of "Stratospheric Success"
1. The Law of Value – Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment.
There are three ways I like to add value: Sharing my connections, sharing my expertise, and sharing my compassion. Non Profit Closing
2. The Law of Compensation – Your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them.
Create the life and income you want by creating the community you want! It’s a Virtuous Cycle - As the community gets richer, my life gets richer, and I get richer. My #1 job is to grow my community and add value. My calendar is filled with people, not tasks.
3. The Law of Influence – Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place other people’s interests first.
Referrals started truly flowing when I stopped looking for ways to GET them and instead started looking for ways to GIVE THEM
Go from TOP of MIND to TOP of HEART!
4. The Law of Authenticity – The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself.
Don’t be a realtor that happens to be a person, be a person that happens to be a realtor!
5. The Law of Receptivity – The key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving.
Stay open to what comes your way!
Ask yourself these questions:
Are you referable? Would YOU refer you?
Do you believe that you deserve to be successful?
This took a lot of inside work for me. I had to do a lot of work on my perspective and my mindset to free myself from some debilitating limiting beliefs. Are you holding onto beliefs that are keeping you hostage?
You open the channel to receive referrals when you give referrals. Set an outgoing referral goal and work hard to meet it. Attract, don’t chase.
These 5 Laws of Stratospheric Success all teamed up to help me land the biggest account of my career. I live in a fairly new community and over time, I got to know a sales rep for one of the builders. I kept her updated about the market, I taught classes at her model home to improve her realtor traffic, and I was there for her as a shoulder to lean on when she was struggling with sales.
I didn’t know it, but they were looking for a new listing agent for their next neighborhood. I also didn’t know that my sales rep friend happens to be the number one sales rep, with a ton of influence with the executives. I got an interview to be the listing agent for the new neighborhood, and once they saw my marketing program, they hired me on the spot…not just for their next project, but for ALL of the Denver Metro Area!
